Can you remember… back in March, The Prime Minister announced FREE courses for adults. This is the first major development in the Lifetime Skills Guarantee.
There are FULLY FUNDED courses ranging from engineering to healthcare to conservation, available to adults without a full qualification at Level 3 (A-level equivalent) from April 2021 to help them gain in-demand skills and open up further job opportunities.
Skills North East have the following Level 3 courses care available:
Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health
Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Principles of Dementia Care
Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
“Despite all our efforts, coronavirus is damaging the economy and putting people out of work. But I am determined to help everyone who has lost their job to retrain, develop new skills and find new opportunities.
The Lifetime Skills Guarantee will give thousands of adults across the country the chance to do exactly that – as we build back better after the pandemic.”
The courses are designed to help our country come back better after the pandemic, the qualifications in this offer have been carefully chosen to help adults improve their career prospects and meet the needs of the economy. They will be reviewed regularly so the courses offered can be updated as the economy changes.
The announcement marks an important step in the development of the government’s landmark Lifetime Skills Guarantee, which will transform the skills system to ensure more people, no matter their age or background, can get the skills they need to progress in employment.
Level 3 – Lifetime Skills Guarantee
If you are 19 or over and do not already have a full level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or A levels) you can now access a free qualification.

Can I apply?
You can access one of the free Level 3 qualifications if you are aged 19 or over and want to achieve your first level 3 qualification, which is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or A levels.
Some of these qualifications are available to study online or part-time. In some instances, you may need to meet admissions criteria for the course you chose to apply for. For example, you may need to have studied a particular subject before at a lower level.
