Skills North East offers a range of finance and accounting apprenticeships, including:
Financial Services Customer Advisor (Level 2 /3): Train in customer service and advisory skills essential for bank tellers and financial service representatives.
Assistant Accountant (Level 3) Carrying out routine financial activities and support for businesses and organisations of all types and sizes.
Financial Services Administration (Level 3): Develop administrative skills specific to the financial services sector for efficient operation management.
Payroll Administrator (Level 3): Master payroll processing, tax calculations, and record maintenance to enhance your finance department’s efficiency.
Accounts or Finance Assistant (Level 2): Build a strong foundation in accounting and bookkeeping tailored to selective accounts management.

Professional Accounting or Taxation Technician (Level 4): Develop advanced skills in accounting and taxation for handling complex financial operations.

Apprenticeship Levy
Apprenticeships are a great way to train and empower your employees with cutting edge, specialised training.
Large Organisations & the Apprenticeship Levy
For organisations with an annual salary bill exceeding £3 million, the cost of apprenticeship training in Legal, Accounting, and Payroll is deducted monthly from your Apprenticeship Levy account. Your business contributes to this ringfenced fund each month, specifically reserved for apprenticeship training.
Funds in your Apprenticeship Levy account are available for up to 2 years. If you don’t use all your funds, you can transfer up to 25% to another organisation.
Training Costs for Small Businesses
For businesses with an annual salary bill under £3 million, the Government covers 95% of training fees for apprenticeships in Legal, Accounting, and Payroll. This means you would only pay around £750 for the training.
Additionally, if your business has fewer than 50 employees and you take on an apprentice aged 16-18, the Government will fund 100% of the training fees.
